Onalenna carries a wealth of corporate and investment banking experience spanning across 14 years based in different markets being Botswana, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.

Having started his career with Stanbic Bank as a Graduate Trainee in 2009 and going on to join the Commercial Banking team as an Account analyst until 2011, Onalenna re-joined Stanbic Bank in July 2018 as Manager, Investment Banking and was later promoted to Head, Investment Banking in July 2023.

Prior to joining Stanbic Banking, Onalenna worked across Investment Banking and Client Coverage at Rand Merchant Bank and Barclays Bank (now ABSA) in Botswana, UAE and the UK.

Onalenna holds a Bachelor of Finance Degree from the University of Botswana and has recently completed the coursework for his Master of Commerce: Development Finance with the University of Cape Town. He has also completed the Managers’ Development Programme with the University of Stellenbosch and the Apex Leadership Programme with the University of Cape Town.
